What inspired the formation of Avant Garde Electronic?
Founded 21 years ago, in 1996, Avant Garde hails from extremely humble beginnings. What started off with just two guards has grown from strength to strength over the years, and today, Avant Garde employs over 4,000 security personnel. Our service spans across the island, with our 14 branches serving more than 350 clients in over 1,200 locations. We cater to both government and private sector organizations, as well as blue chip companies.
Even though Avant Garde’s initial objective was to provide basic security services, the rapid expansion of our operation over the years, has given rise to an extensive service portfolio, which now includes body guard services for VVIPs, provision of high powered vehicles for the transportation of cash and jewellery with armed guards, investigations into thefts, robbery and pilferages, conduction of fire evacuation and safety drills, supply and installation of CCTV systems and modernized security equipment and many more.
As we entered the industry over two decades ago, the security requirements and expectations of our corporate clients were basic and relatively easy to execute. However, with the drastic advancement in technology as well as the exponential increase in crime rates and security threats over the years arose the need and demand for more comprehensive and sophisticated security solutions. Modern businesses are increasingly moving away from manual security systems to more holistic structures comprising elements of both manpower and technology.
The technological element in these modern security systems has not only enabled organizations and individuals to obtain higher standards of safety and protection, it has also allowed them to keep track of their people, property and resources both on and off site, as well as maintain records of proof and evidence through technologies such as CCTV cameras and the like. Thus, in an age where businesses and households are made increasingly vulnerable to the prevalent crime rates and security threats, the implementation of a modern, high-tech security system has become an absolute necessity.
Our core purpose is to provide our clients with seamless security solutions whilst acting as their second-eye as well as a trusted and reliable shield of safety. Having perfected the science and art of protection over the past 21 years, Avant Garde is now at the forefront of the country’s private security industry.
Our market research and the requests made by our long-term clients propelled us to form a separate legal entity called “AVANT GARDE ELECTRONIC PROJECT (PVT) LTD”. Through our vast experience spanning across two decades, we are in a viable position to provide our valuable clients and those who are in need, with total security solutions at very competitive prices , that will enable them to effectively safeguard their people, properties and resources. The Avant Garde Electronic Project comprises a diverse product portfolio which features a wide array of ultra-modern services and solutions.

Structure & Management
Mr. Manjula Yapa
Chairman
Mr. Manjula Yapa is a Director at AGMS and the Managing Director of Avant Garde Security Services (Pvt) Limited. He Joined the Police in November 1989 as a Sub Inspector and retired as a Chief Inspector in 2001. During his tenure in the Department of the Police he served as OIC (Special Branch). He also served in North & East during the height of terrorism and ethnic violence in the country. He followed courses at various Police Training Colleges and Army training centres in Sri Lanka. Eventually, he was an Officer in Charge at Special Branch Unit of the Police directly under the Inspector General of Police.
During his tenure of service in the police, he was assigned in to various designations across Central Province, North Western Province, and Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.
After retirement from the Police, Mr. Manjula Yapa joined Avant Garde Security Services (Pvt) Ltd as an Operation Manager. Later he was promoted as General Manager and finally assumed duties as Managing Director. He is totally responsible for all security operations and related administration island-wide. Also He is the Chairman of the Avant Garde Electronic Project (Pvt) Ltd.
